Process

The design merges minimalist architectural elements from Turkishceramics brands with the sensorial and indulgent experience of foam.

Focusing on the theme of cleanliness and referencing luxurious spa environments, the pavilion is conceived in two contrasting parts: a monolithic tiled base for staging public interaction; and a lightweight suspended dome wrapped in thin mesh, floating above, from which foam is emitted.

Inspiration for Foam Dome includes Peter Sloterdijk’s seminal philosophical writing on Bubbles, culinary experiments by Heston Blumenthal, the foaming artworks of Michel Blazy, and Buckminster Fuller’s Cloud Nine.
